Anonymity scrutinized by Lewis

Brian Lewis, Columnist and Blogger for the Springfield News-Leader, has a column in today\'s newspaper, Declare Yourself, discussing the issue of Anonymity on the Internet and how it can affect us. He uses the example of John Mackey to drive home the point that posting under an assumed name can be a quagmire of ethics. He stated that he feels \"Disappointed and disgusted\" by all the \"anonymous and pseudonymous postings on the Internet.\" (Newsleader) He goes on to declare: \"Furthermore, Americans online don\'t face the dangerous circumstances that necessitate them post anonymously. They just do it because it\'s fun and easy.\" (Newsleader)
I both agree and disagree with Brian. I agree with the overall principle that much of the anonymity and pseudonyms are for pure convenience. Some people do not want to be held accountable for what they are willing to write. If you post it anonymously, then it is much easier to attack others without fear of repercussions. It is...
